This is the point where most adventurers hie off and return with an angry mob of Paladins, but nope. Basically all the sexy lower planes types. Yeah, the priestesshood is basically all succubui, erinyes, and shit. (She was also the only feminine-looking character in the group at that time - she was actually fully hermaphroditic, though.) Trixie starts poking around, listening in, and. Their domain was basically female philanthropy pretty much anything you could name from helping women get back on their feet, curing diseases, etc, etc.Īnyway, crapsacky nob asks the group to investigate this church, at the same time as we have other investigations going on, so my goblin, Trixie, goes to look by herself. Well, some of them asked us to investigate the new church/cult that had set up in town, the Church of the Lady-in-Wait. The city we were in had a bit of a problem with the nobs being kind of crapsacky selfish jerks. Originally I had planned for her to do a lot of her second-story work ala Thief, but the GM never gave us much opportunity to do so. She was going to find her own way and do what she felt was right, and not let anyone else tell her what right was. Owned a pawn-shop as a literal front for her artificing. I was playing a Goblin (Greenskin think 'lifted straight from World of Warcraft' art, because she literally was,) Rogue/Artificer shopkeep. There was a lot, I mean, a lot of homebrewing involved, but. So long story short, it took extended interaction over a large scale campaign, with a character who appealed to the dragon in question. After she had long since regained her full strength, this ended up expanding into bringing her along (or at least offering to bring her along) on whatever various downtime ventures the paladin was up to, where he'd often indulge her curiosity about the societies they visited.Įventually, it just kinda became clear to the table that the two were very much an item thanks to their shared similar philosophies, goals, and interests. He also personally treated whatever injuries she received whenever assisting the party, no matter how minor. He offered her gifts of gems and art to help cheer her up (the paladin had a side job as a smith who worked with precious metals a lot and researched that dragons are very fond of their hoards), although unknown to the paladin she mostly ate the gems. He brought her along on fights against large and dangerous monsters to help her gain her strength back through good food. The party Paladin actually took it upon himself to help her regain her full strength, which involved quite a few touching gestures. Of course, as she was still recovering her from her ordeals, it'd be some time before she could be of use to the party. In order to not seem too out of place, she maintained the shape change of a young woman who appeared to be some sort of druid, and went by the name of Anna. Which sounds extremely generous, but I had 100 percent planned and expected them to slay the dragon as part of the big fight, and they had a heck of a time saving the dragon, slaying the wizard, and accomplishing their primary objective somehow and I figured they deserved the reward of a powerful ally for all their effort and accomplishment.Īnyhow, I ruled that the dragon was technically a young adult, had the stat line of a young dragon with the adult dragon's shape change ability. One of my players ended up going through a romance arc with a young gold dragon the party had allied with after rescuing from the enslavement of a powerful wizard. Not quite DnD, but adjacent enough to work I suppose.
